Measurements

Now that you have decided to order from Simple Silhouettes, this is the first step to determining your size. Measuring is one of the most important aspects of the ordering process. Accurately measuring will enable you to select the size that will give you the closest fit. When measuring, be sure to keep the tape snug.

If you feel more comfortable having a tailor or seamstress take your measurements, please print out these instructions and bring them with you to your tailor. Since tailors and seamstresses may have their own methods of measuring, it is very important that they follow our measuring instructions.

  • 1. BUST — across the bust and back (not under the bust).
  • 2. WAIST — around natural waist, at the narrowest part.
  • 3. HIP — measure 8" down from the waist level with the tape parallel to the floor.
  • 4. OUTERSEAM — from waistline to heel following the contour of the figure on the side of body (barefoot).

Our garments are made in STANDARD SIZES. Please DO NOT add inches for ease. Our size charts reflect body measurements not garment measurements.

DETERMINING SIZE

Now you are ready to select your size form our size charts. Locate the size chart for the style(s) you are choosing and select your size based on your measurements.

If you are falling between sizes it is better to select the larger size because it is a lot easier to take in a garment then to let it out.

The size you select should be the same or close to what you normally wear. If that is not the case and/or you are having difficulty figuring your size, please call us at (212) 219-2223, we would be happy to assist you.

DETERMINING LENGTH

Please refer to our hemline details when determining length.

When ordering full length dresses you should consider your outerseam measurement to determine if extra length is needed. If your outerseam measurement is longer than the full length specifications in our hemline details, then we recommend ordering extra length. Additionally, if you plan to wear high heels you should add a few inches to your outerseam measurement to determine if extra length is needed.
