Getting Started

Thank you for your interest in Simple Silhouettes. Now that you have decided to place your order, you will want to familiarize yourself with our procedures to make the ordering and delivery process as smooth as possible.

We require that the entire order be placed through one location whether it is online, through our New York showroom, or through one of our retailers. This enables us and our retailers to offer seamless customer service and it ensures that the dresses will be cut from the same dye lot.

  • 1.) If ordering three or more dresses in the same style, fabric and color then you qualify for a discount. To receive the discount (10% if ordering 3 or more), all order forms and payments must be submitted at the same time in one envelope. We can send you a bridal party kit in order to ease this process. A bridal party kit includes swatches and order forms for each bridesmaid and a checklist to keep you organized.
  • If timing is an issue you may want to skip the bridal party kit step and simply ask your bridesmaids to fill out an Order Form (pdf Download) and send it to you; that way you can place the order at one time to receive the discount. Additionally, you will need to send a signed Agreement (pdf Download) with your order.

  • 2.) If you will be ordering a variety of styles and/or colors, we will be happy to set up a file with all of your contact information, your wedding date, and any specifications you may have. We ask that you only set up a file once you have made a definite decision to place an order. In addition, we need you to send us a signed Agreement (pdf Download).
  • Once your file is set up your bridesmaids may then order separately by completing an Order Form (pdf Download) and sending it via fax or mail.

Placing Your Order

Please print out, complete and mail or fax the following documents to Simple Silhouettes:

    One signed agreement is required for each bridal party and is most often signed by the bride.

We regret that we are unable to accept orders via telephone. However, if anyone has any questions about sizing or ordering, please telephone us and we will be happy to assist you.

Please note: if the bride is compiling the order herself so that she/you receive(s) a discount, please send your completed order form to the bride and not to Simple Silhouettes.

Timing

Once fully completed orders have been received, please allow 10 weeks for delivery. We recommend orders be placed at minimum 14 weeks before the event to ensure fabric availability and time for shipping and alterations, if necessary. We do accept rush orders. For orders needed in 5-8 weeks there is a $25 per ensemble rush charge. For orders 3-4 weeks $50 per dress and 1-2 weeks $75 per dress.

Delivery

All garments are shipped Federal Express 3 day service. Shipping is $15 per ensemble (dress or shell/skirt).

Shipping multiple orders in one box will allow for better rates. Generally, we charge $7.50 per ensemble for the first four ensembles and a $35 flat rate for five or more.

A $10 forwarding fee will be charged for all returned or rerouted packages due to an incorrect shipping address. For faster shipping, international shipping, and shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, please call for rates.

Federal Express and most other domestic carriers have recently changed their policies in that they no longer require a person to sign for packages at residential locations as long as they are left in what they deem a safe area. While we have not encountered any problems with this, we do recommend that you have your ensemble shipped to a business if you are unsure about the safety of a package being left at your residence.

Fabric color accuracy is difficult to depict via the internet. You may order fabric swatches, limited to five. Please use the following link to order swatches:

Our shantung, shantung gingham, and satin faced silk shantung are handwoven silk textiles. They may contain variations and irregularities, which are the characteristics of fine silk yarn. These characteristics enhance the natural beauty of the fabrics and should in no way be treated as defects.

Maternity Dresses

If you are expecting, we would like to make choosing a style and size as easy for you as possible. When the Order Form is submitted, please leave your size blank and indicate that you will call in your size 8 weeks before the date of the wedding. Your dress will ship about four weeks before the wedding, allowing time for alterations. Please note that if you are ordering your dress as part of a bridal party there is a chance that the dress will be made in a different dye lot of fabric and this is due to the fact that the dress may be cut at a different time than the others.

When taking your measurements, please measure the fullest part of the bust and waist. You will then want to select your size from the corresponding size chart of the style you are ordering. We often recommend ordering a size up to accommodate your changing figure.
